Our Story

Twenty years ago, my college friends and I discovered our perfect getaway formula in the Catskills – and we've been chasing that magic ever since, always finding excuses to return to these mountains that started it all. Now I've created a space where your group can experience what drew us back here time and again."

Welcome to the Charm Circle Cabin, named after Cecil E. Hickcox's legendary 1969 Outdoor Magazine article about the "Charmed Circle" of pristine fishing waters. While our cabin honors that rich fly fishing heritage of the Catskills, it represents something deeper for me, the fulfillment of a dream that began 20 years ago with a group of college friends seeking authentic experiences in nature.

My story with the Catskills began shortly after college when my roommates and I were all diving headfirst into the corporate world. We quickly realized we needed something to counterbalance that pace – opportunities to hang out that let us surround ourselves in nature, be present in the moment, and share authentic experiences together. Fly fishing became our perfect vehicle for this, naturally drawing us to beautiful places where we could disconnect and reconnect with what mattered most.

Those early planning emails were half the fun, the back-and-forth banter about where we'd stay, which house we'd rent, who was sleeping where, debating the merits of different locations. As we got older, the houses got nicer and we explored different areas, but it all traced back to that first transformative trip to the Catskills, fishing the legendary waters of the West Branch and East Branch of the Delaware. That's when we knew we'd found our place.

I used to joke during those early trips that someday we'd be staying in one of my houses. This cabin represents me fulfilling that dream – or at least the beginning of it. Because I've learned that the house you stay in is very much part of the story. It's not just about the destination; it's about having a space that facilitates those memories and makes it easy to create them together.

What we discovered over all those years is that the Catskills offer something increasingly rare: an authentic escape from the pace and pressures of modern life. Just a few hours from the New York Metro area, you can find yourself surrounded by natural beauty and genuine community that restores your spirit. At the Charm Circle Cabin, I've created what I hope will be that perfect space for groups of friends from across the country – a place where you can come together, have shared experiences, reconnect with nature, be present in the moment, and make lifelong memories, just like my friends and I have been doing for over two decades.

Welcome to our corner of this magical region. We're excited to share it with you and help you create your own unforgettable memories in the remarkable landscape of the Catskills!
